LG Chem has a newly created entry level, 12-month Logistics + IT System Internship position to support international logistics operations and digital transformation initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience with global supply chain processes, data-driven logistics, and IT system development within a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This is a full-time (40-hours per week), hourly position and is located in our corporate office in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, GA. To qualify, candidates must have a Bachelor Degree and able to work Monday through Friday during normal business hours of 8AM - 5PM. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

Essential Functions (include but are not limited to):

 

Supply Chain Operations Support

  • Assist in the creation and tracking of Sales Orders and Purchase Orders in the SAP system.
  • Support import/export logistics — coordinate with freight forwarders for ocean shipments, monitor inbound deliveries, and ensure on-time outbound operations with 3PL vendors.
  • Help prepare shipping and customs documentation for international trade compliance.
  • Monitor inventory transactions and assist with month-end inventory reconciliations across multiple warehouses and 3PL locations.
  • Participate in insurance claim support for damaged materials and follow through on resolutions.

 

Customer Service and Order Fulfillment

  • Track customer order status and proactively update internal teams and clients on shipment progress and delivery schedules.
  • Support communication via email or virtual meetings to provide visibility on order, inventory, and invoicing status.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and performance dashboards related to order accuracy, delivery performance, and customer satisfaction metrics.

 

IT System & Data Integration Support

  • Collaborate with internal IT teams to improve system workflows between SAP, warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Participate in the digitalization of logistics operations — assist in identifying automation opportunities, data mapping, or system interface testing.
  • Support the development of basic data tools or dashboards (e.g., using Excel VBA, Power BI, or Python) to visualize logistics KPIs. 

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: What We’re Looking For

 

Competencies/Desired Skills:

 

Education:  Bachelor’s degree required in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or Business Administration.  

 

Experience:

  • 0-1 years of work experience related to logistics, supply chain or related fields.
  • Internship or academic experience in ERP (SAP preferred), logistics coordination, or data analysis a plus.

 

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of import/export operations, customs, and warehousing processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
  • Familiarity with ERP (SAP experience preferred).
  • Interest or basic skill in data automation, Power BI, Python, or SQL is a strong plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams in an international, cross-cultural environment.
