JOB SUMMARY (BASIC FUNCTIONS): We are seeking an early-career Sales professional to join the Sales team at our corporate office in Atlanta, GA. Reporting to the South Sales Team Leader, this individual contributor role supports sales and account management activities within the U.S. petrochemical plastics business. The position focuses on developing foundational sales competencies, product knowledge, and market understanding by supporting and managing assigned existing customer accounts. With experience and demonstrated performance, the role will gradually expand to include involvement in new customer and business development activities under the direction of senior sales leadership. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who is eager to learn, able to execute assigned responsibilities independently with guidance, and interested in building a long-term career in sales at LG Chem.
What You’ll Be Doing
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include but are not limited to):
- Manage and support assigned existing customer accounts to maintain customer satisfaction, retention, and stable business growth
- Support new customer identification and market expansion initiatives for petrochemical plastics (including ABS, ASA, and PC) across North America
- Conduct regular customer visits and maintain ongoing technical and commercial communication to understand customer needs, propose solutions, and strengthen relationships
- Assist with market and industry analysis to support pricing decisions, profitability, and competitive positioning
- Coordinate order processing, logistics, inventory control, and sales forecasting through SAP to ensure accurate execution and on-time delivery
- Manage purchase orders, monitor inventory levels, and support forecasting activities to help achieve sales target
- Monitor accounts receivable status and support follow-ups to reduce aging and facilitate timely collection
Additional functions may include:
- Conduct market research and prepare reports on market conditions, customer trends, and potential business opportunities
- Collaborate with internal teams and headquarters to support account management activities, resolve issues, and assist with business growth initiatives
- Gradually expand responsibilities from account support into new customers and business development as product knowledge, market understanding, and experience increase
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES: WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field preferred OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in B2B sales, account management, or customer-facing roles
- Valid driver’s license required and ability to legally operate a motor vehicle for business travel
- Sales experience in Petrochemical resins or engineering plastics (ABS, ASA, PC preferred)
- Experience working with plastic manufacturers or distributors
- Exposure to appliance, automotive, medical, or industrial materials markets
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze market data and prepare professional reports
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Knowledge of SAP (ERP) systems is preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 60%
- Strong relationship‑building, collaboration, with the ability to develop influencing skills over time
- Self‑driven mindset with accountability and a willingness to learn
