Job Summary (Basic Functions): LG Chem Advance Materials, Inc. (LGCTA) is actively searching for a Powder Process Engineer will be an individual contributor reporting to the Production Manager and work alongside our Powder Solutions team.
The Powder Process Engineer will deal with stabilization of powder flowability issues in pre- and post-processing and improve process loss by managing the bag filter efficiency and issues for our new cathode material manufacturing plant in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The Powder Process Engineer will report to the Powder Solutions Team Manager and is a member of our powder solutions team, serving as a core engineer and technical resource to optimize the installation parameters and process parameters in commissioning test, observe the load cells calibration, perform the DOE(Design Of Experiment) and analyze the capability of the process. The Powder Process Engineer will also resolve the issues related to powder flowability such as weighing, transfer, mixing, and milling process and verify the improvement actions, and monitor the result of improvement. Also, Powder Process Engineer will minimize the process loss by managing the bag filter issues according to standards, and deal with the audit challenge of customer.
This role will serve as a powder process expert, establish the standard & regulation, train and distribute standards & regulations to workers and work with related department on day-to-day issues. The Powder Process Engineer will develop a sound understanding of the plant’s equipment & process and an understanding of analysis results of powder flowability properties.
The Powder Process Engineer is a vital member of our powder solutions team and will support special projects related to process improvement, process loss reduction and new product introduction.
This position is based full time in Clarksville, TN and is not a remote role.
What You’ll Be Doing
Essential Functions (include but are not limited to):
New Factory Early Stabilization:
- During the new installation phase, inspect the process equipment conditions and installation parameters related to flowability parameters & bag filter and match up the conditions with P&ID document, parameter check list, and recipe.
- Before DOE phase, inspect the calibration status of equipment load cells and address the issues when calibration result is out of standard.
· Before DOE, coordinate the schedule of DOE with related department, establish the new standard of new equipment.
DOE (Design of Experiments) Evaluation and Mass Production:
· Coordinate the DOE schedule and operate the equipment with all relevant departments in a three-shift system to keep operations running 24/7 before mass production.
· During DOE & mass production phase, monitor the batch-by-batch trend and the process parameters related to flowability process & bag filter with process technology team, and manage the process parameters within control lines, process capability, process loss and trouble shooting history.
· During DOE & mass production phase, monitor and resolve flowablity issues such as weighing, transfer, mixing, and milling processes to minimize the downtime. Conduct sampling and analyze the flowablity properties with quality team and process technology team.
· During DOE & mass production phase, monitor, manage the process loss from bag filter abnormaility by using the monitoring sensor and system and quickly resolve the bag filter issues.
· Analyze the product and monitor the flowability properties related to product issues and maintain company and customer guidelines for quality.
· Establish and manage a job training program for all manufacturing processes, procedures and techniques; document work standards (guides, SOPs, etc.) for new operators, technicians, and engineers in various areas of flow engineering. Provide technical support as needed.
Technical Support and Audit Challenge:
· Deal with internal and external audit challenges and provide alternative plans and implement corrective actions.
· Provide technical support for special projects related to process improvement, process loss reduction and new product introduction.
· Manage and improve the key performance index related to flow engineering to ensure manufactured products meet or exceed established customer requirements
Data Analysis:
· Monitor the product analysis data from QA/QC and address the issues related to flowablility properties of product according to standards.
· Collaborate in the analysis of production data and lead activities to improve plant equipment effectiveness and reduce waste within operations
· Conduct root cause analysis for manufacturing issues and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or equivalent engineering experience. Additional relevant work experience is a plus.
Requirements:
· Minimum 3 years of stable work history is required.
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering, or a technical field preferably in powder, chemical, glass, refinery, plastics, food, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, automotive or batteries.
· Able to work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours and participate in on-call rotation during DOE period.
· Able to respond off hours and weekends to troubleshoot plant issues.
· Experience utilizing lean manufacturing concepts with a proven track record of lean / six sigma, SPC and capability analysis.
· Able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 50 lbs.;
· Exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards.
· Able to travel to different sites and locations; undertake long-term international travel.
· Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and other garments as needed. This may include safety shoes, safety glasses, Masks, full body gowns, hair nets, gloves and hearing protection, and air respirator.
Preferred Qualification/What We’d Like to See:
· Understanding the PLC control system, load cell calibration, and bag filter & dust collecting system, ESD system.
· Find and Address problems of technical complexity on identifying Processes.
· Propose innovative solutions accordingly and Develop band New Products.
· Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation
· Proficiency in the use of PC and Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word etc.)
· Excellent analytical ability to effectively analyze production data.
