Job Summary (Basic Functions): LG Chem Advance Materials, Inc. (LGCTA) is actively searching for a Process Technology Engineer to join our team in Clarksville, TN.
The Process Technology Engineer will be an individual contributor reporting to the Process Manager and work alongside our Process Engineer team.
As a Process Engineer your role will be focused in the following areas: Product process control plan, Product Quality Stabilization, and 4M / FMEA Process. Your primary focus will be on new factory setup, early stabilization, and customer certification acquisition, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and optimizing processes and Cathode Material Technology.
In Process Technology, you will analyze product quality control, process parameter management, lead 4M process changes, perform DOEs to set new line operating conditions. You will also work toward achieving KPIs related to new facility setup, early stabilization, and customer certifications.
This position is based full time in Clarksville, TN and is not a remote role.
What You’ll Be Doing
Essential Functions (include but are not limited to):
New Factory Process Recipe & Sequence Setup and Early Stabilization:

Lead the setup and commissioning of new production facilities, ensuring timely and effective implementation.

Stabilize Process and Product quality through troubleshooting and process refinement to meet yield and capacity targets.
New Factory Line Set Up and DOE (Design of Experiments) Evaluation.

Plan and schedule DOEs and write DOE evaluation plans for new line startup

Using DOE results, set process parameters for production
-
Effective schedule control for shortening the evaluation period
Product 4M Evaluation
-
Design and schedule 4M changes, including customer communication components
-
Perform trial runs using dedicated trial lab equipment
Mass Production Control Plan & FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) Management

Analyze mass production data and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.

Compile Failure Mode lists related to safety, quality, and capacity
Strengthen the Process Technology Skills & Expertise

Advance process stability and capability by managing process parameters
-
Develop processes and procedures to stabilize the production capacity and efficiency
-
System integration for Global Production Management (LMS, RMS, etc.)
Customer Certification Acquisition:
-
Develop strategies and action plans to comply with customer certification requirements (PFMEA, Capability, Work Instructions, etc...)

Prepare for customer audits, including preparing evidence of compliance with both regulatory & customer requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: What We’re Looking For

Scientific principles: Develop research on manufacturing processes using advanced knowledge of scientific principles, theory and experimental design within a scientific discipline.

Communication and Collaboration: Serve on multi-disciplinary project teams to collaborate, provide technical input and deliver results aligned with team deliverables.

Self-discipline & management: Responsibility of short, medium and long term Set Up and manufacturing strategies for new products along with managing themselves.

Leadership and Adaptability: Demonstrated leadership ability and adaptability to changing priorities, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Education: Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering or related field required. Additional relevant work experience is a plus.
Requirements:

Experience in Calcination & Powder industries or related is a huge plus but not required.

Able to work extended hours temporarily during DOE & 4M evaluation, including weekends, and participate in on-call rotation as needed.

Able to respond off hours and weekends to troubleshoot plant issues.

Able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 40 lbs.;
-
Exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards.

Able to travel to different sites and locations; undertake long-term international travel (up to 1 month).

Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and other garments as needed. This may include safety shoes, safety glasses, masks, full body gowns, hair nets, gloves and hearing protection.
Preferred Qualification/What We’d Like to See:

Find and Address problems of technical complexity on identifying Processes.

Knowledge about Inorganic Chemistry, Fluid mechanics, and Thermodynamics.

Propose innovative solutions accordingly and Develop brand New Products.

Experience utilizing lean manufacturing concepts with a proven track record of lean / six sigma, SPC and capability analysis.

Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation

Proficiency in the use of PC and Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word etc.)

Excellent analytical ability to effectively analyze production data.
