Job Summary (Basic Functions): LG Chem is actively seeking a Production Operator for our cathode material manufacturing plant in Clarksville, Tennessee. This role discusses work with the Operator Supervisor and Production Supervisor and performs assigned tasks. Operators in the Production Team perform the most essential tasks required for production. Transferring, feeding, monitoring, checking, packaging, sampling, etc. All tasks are performed in PPE and in compliance with environmental safety regulations.

Work procedures may change as they are gradually improved, and work areas may be rotated as needed. Ensure stable and accurate operation by performing essential tasks required for plant operation.

 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

Essential Functions (include but are not limited to):

Stable Operation of Plant:

  • Ensure the stable and efficient operation of the manufacturing plant, adhering to all operational protocols and safety standards.

Material Handling and Input:

  • Transfer bulk bag raw materials and accurately input them into the production process.
  • Safely handle and transport materials within the plant to ensure seamless production flow.

Packaging:

  • Package finished products into bulk bags, ensuring correct labeling and secure packaging for shipment

Control Room Monitoring and Operation:

  • Monitor process flow diagrams and control systems from the control room.
  • Operate machinery and equipment to maintain optimal production conditions, making adjustments as necessary.Team Leadership and Development:

Equipment Alarm Response:

  • Identify the causes of equipment alarms and take appropriate action to address and resolve issues.
  •    - Perform necessary procedures to shut down equipment safely if required.

Logistics and Transportation:

  • Oversee the internal movement of raw materials and finished products to ensure timely and efficient production cycles.

LOTO and Documentation:

  • Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure the safety of personnel during maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs and records of production activities, equipment status, and any incidents.

Incoming Product Inspection:

  • Participate in incoming inspection of consumable production equipment.
  • Maintain inspection records. 

Product Waste Management:

  • Facilitate the removal of product waste from the factory.

Floor Patrol & Area Inspection:

  • Participate in plant patrol inspections.
  • Log results and take photos of various plant equipment to verify good condition.

5S:

  • Maintain a clean and orderly workplace.
  • Adhere to 5S standards where applicable.

 

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: What We’re Looking For

 

Competencies/Desired Skills:

  • Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment operation. Ability to monitor and operate control systems effectively to ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to accurately handle raw materials, package finished products, and maintain precise logs. Ensuring product quality and operational efficiency is critical..
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to quickly identify and address equipment alarms and operational issues. Ability to take corrective actions to maintain production continuity.
  • Safety Awareness: Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, report issues promptly, and maintain clear documentation. Ability to follow and give instructions accurately.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills to work cohesively with other operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel. Promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing operational demands and work in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in manufacturing or related fields preferred.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 year of relevant work experience required in an industrial environment.  
  • Willingness to work all/any shifts.
  • May be required to work different shifts as needed.
  • Able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 40 lbs.;
  • Exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining work space, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards;
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and other garments as needed. This may include safety shoes, safety glasses, oxygen respirator, full body gowns, hard hat, gloves and hearing protection.

 

Preferred Qualification/What We’d Like to See:

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with a focus on equipment operation and material handling.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO).

General Work Environment.  This position is based primarily within a manufacturing environment and requires regular exposure to typical plant conditions. The role may also involve handling or moving product samples and navigating active production areas.
