Head of Legal and Compliance department at LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH, responsible for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, as well as the European B2B division, and the European Headquarter consisting of totally nearly 500 employees. Supervision of the members of the legal department in Germany.
What You’ll Do
- Legal counselling of LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH and its branches in Austria and Switzerland on general civil law, commercial law, data privacy law, IP law, cartel law, corporate law, insolvency law and labour law issues and especially:
- Comprehensive legal counselling of the management of LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH, the European CFO and CEO.
- Comprehensive legal counselling of all business units of the LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH incl. the branches, the European B2B division, European Headquarter, and of the HQ (Korea) legal department on the issues of German and international/European law, including:
- Provision of legal advice for a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions within the assigned area of responsibility to operational teams (sales, purchasing, marketing, finance etc.) to ensure the compliance of their current or planned activities, policies, business practices, and transactions with all relevant laws and regulations, including LGE’s internal regulations.
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating various types of domestic and international commercial agreements and other legal documents related to a variety of trade, commercial, financial, and operational matters to ensure protection of LGE’s legal and business interests.
- Review and approval of LGE’s public statements from the legal perspective to identify, anticipate and mitigate (legal) risks.
- LGE’s representation in legal proceedings before courts, governmental bodies or other private and public authorities to ensure protection of LGE’s interests.
- Liaising with and preparation of materials for external legal counsels to ensure effective protection of LGE’s interests in legal proceedings.
- Support on regulatory and compliance matters, such as privacy, anti-corruption and competition law, to help prevent non-compliance and mitigate risks in these areas.
- Support of the external/internal data protection officer, and especially implementation and maintenance of the GDPR in cooperation with the external/internal data protection officer.
- Training of the employees in all relevant legal topics including general legal compliance, anti-cartel/competition law, data protection law and other legal and compliance topics on request of the Korean HQ.
- Maintenance of the compliance structure as provided for by the guidelines of the Korean HQ. Provision of regular compliance trainings to the employees and the management.
- Collaboration with the EU IP director with regard to the IP related issues, especially IP related litigations.
- Responsibility for special projects beyond the regular scope work in cooperation with the other departments (e.g. HR, Finance).
What You Must Have
- Completed German legal degree with above average results, preferably up to the 2nd state examination
- Minimum 6-8 years post-qualification experience in a law firm and/or in-house
- Very good knowledge of contracts and in commercial law (Commercial Code (HGB) and provisions on general terms and conditions( AGB))
- Customer-oriented approach, ability to manage deadlines and to deliver on time
- Autonomous, motivated and well organized
- Fluency in English and German
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office standard software
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment
- Highly developed commercial and business interest
- Energetic and proactive approach
- Sense of pragmatism and can do attitude
- Ability to communicate effectively
