JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, this position manages new color development, color corrections, and all color recipes. In addition, this position actively considers customer requirements to make color recipes. Also maintains and manages color recipes and colorants to create profitability. To do this, close communication with customers, sales, CS and headquarters is required. This position works onsite at our Ravenna, OH facility. 

 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Perform tests related to colorant and its quality using equipment.(Extruder, Injection molding machine, Spectrophotometer, light booth, etc)
  • Manage and supervise Color Design Technicians.
  • Manage history of developed colors, color recipe and color data.
  • Data processing using measuring equipment and PC.
  • Derive solutions to color quality issues.
  • Supply and demand management of raw materials for the color design lab
  • Manage color corrections for in-process color in production
  • Review and manage development schedule (daily).
  • Support equipment operation.
  • Perform maintenance/management tasks for the color equipment in color design lab, quality assurance, and quality control.
  • Ensure that products adhere to quality standards.
  • Safely handle/use chemicals and waste. Potentially including hazardous materials. Read, understand, and maintain material safety data sheets.
  • Develop and provide color theory training for QA/QC/Production
  • Improve process efficiency.
  • Support HQ/Sales/CS/Production/QA/QC department.
  • Work with relevant departments such as Production, QA/QC, Maintenance, Research, HQ, Business service staff to resolve issues in plant.
  • Support procurement in developing new colorant suppliers and sourcing new or current colorants
  • Manage cleanliness of department and grounds.
  • Must uphold the Jeong-Do Management (Code of ethics).
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrates ability to adapt to using newly introduced tools and technology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power point) and a capability to learn basic systems such as ERP, QMS.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor of Chemical engineering, Polymer engineering, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years plastics process experience required
  • Prior color theory experience is preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
