Engineering Supervisor

ABS Compounding Facility

Position Summary

LG Chem Ohio Petrochemical, Inc. (LGCOP) is seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Supervisor to support our ABS manufacturing operations in Ravenna, Ohio. This position provides technical leadership to the Engineering Team while partnering closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and EHS teams to drive operational excellence.

 

 

The Engineering Supervisor will play a key role in improving manufacturing processes, optimizing equipment performance, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting capital projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, developing employees, and making a direct impact on plant performance.

 

 

 

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and support engineering personnel in daily manufacturing and process improvement activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support to improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that reduce waste, improve yields, and optimize manufacturing performance
  • Support and coordinate capital projects, equipment installations, process validations, and production start-up activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues and achieve business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Analyze production and quality data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Support employee development through coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

 

 

 

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with process optimization and manufacturing support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with ERP and manufacturing systems preferred.
  • AutoCAD, 3D modeling, and SAP experience are a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support a dynamic production environment.

 

 

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.

 

 

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Previous experience leading projects, mentoring team members, or supervising employees preferred.
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing, polymer compounding, extrusion, injection molding, or related processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in troubleshooting manufacturing processes and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, equipment installations, and production improvements preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
