JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to LG Chem’s Process Innovation Manager, the Information Technology Specialist is responsible for the effective operation, administration, and maintenance of information technology (IT) services and support across two facilities in Ravenna, Ohio: the Customer Solutions Center and the ABS Manufacturing Plant. This role is critical to the functionality and security of a wide range of systems and equipment, including servers, network infrastructure, VoIP phones, security CCTV systems, building access badge systems, printers, computers, production equipment, lab instruments, and testing devices.

The IT Specialist ensures the integrity, availability, and performance of all technology assets by managing hardware and software upgrades, installations, troubleshooting, and end-user support and training. This position plays a key role in maintaining operational continuity, safeguarding confidential information, and supporting a secure and efficient technology environment across both office and manufacturing operations.

 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide first and second-level technical support for hardware, software, and network issues across both facilities, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Administer and maintain servers, network infrastructure, VoIP phones, computers, printers, and label printing systems, including installation, configuration, updates, and troubleshooting.
  • Administer and maintain office equipment, computers, printers, VoIP phones, and network systems. Manage hardware inventory, PC returns, installations, and network configurations including wireless and IP settings.
  • Install and manage software licenses, ensure compliance by removing unauthorized programs, and support endpoint security solutions. Respond to user requests via the IT Helpdesk, manage equipment changes, and address malware and virus threats.
  • Manage and support security systems including CCTV, X-ray screening systems, and building access badge systems to ensure safety, compliance, and operational integrity.
  • Support IT-related aspects of production, lab, and testing equipment, ensuring connectivity, functionality, and integration with broader systems.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct regular backups (on-site, off-site), and implement security patches and vulnerability scans to maintain uptime and data integrity.
  • Configure and maintain network switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and virtual desktop environments (e.g., G Portal), ensuring secure and efficient access for users.
  • Provide end-user training and support, manage IT Help Desk tickets, and maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and configurations in partnership with the Process Innovation Team.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams on IT-related projects, system upgrades, and architecture improvements, ensuring alignment with operational needs and strategic goals.
  • Maintain organized and secure IT spaces including server rooms and wiring closets, and ensure compliance with LG Chem’s Jeong-Do Management Principles and relevant industry standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES: 

  • Server & Network Administration: Windows Server (2012–2022), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy.
  • Networking: TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, wireless infrastructure.
  • Virtualization & Remote Access: Citrix, VMware, G Portal, thin clients.
  • Security Systems: CCTV, X-ray screening systems, badge access control, vulnerability scanning, patch management.
  • Communication Systems: VoIP phones, walkie-talkies, and related infrastructure.
  • Hardware Support: Desktops, laptops, printers, label printers, barcode scanners.
  • Peripheral & Specialized Equipment: Production machinery interfaces, lab/testing equipment, and industrial IT hardware.
  • Backup & Recovery: On-site, off-site, and backup systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, antivirus tools, firmware/BIOS upgrades.
  • Database & Scripting: MS SQL, Oracle, basic scripting for automation (PowerShell, Bash, etc.).

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
  • Equivalent experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of IT experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting multi-site operations with both office and production technologies.
  • Cisco Certifications (preferred): CCNA or CCNP.
  • CompTIA Certifications (preferred): A+, Network+, or Security+.
  • Microsoft Certifications (preferred): MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support 2nd and 3rd shift operations as needed.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards is a plus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, security, and ethical conduct (aligned with Jeong-Do Management Principles).
