JOB SUMMARY
The Production Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing all aspects of production operations within the ABS compounding facility. This role ensures alignment with company strategy, drives operational excellence, and fosters a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The manager will oversee Shift Supervisors, Engineering and Maintenance teams to meet production goals, maintain compliance, and support employee development. The Production Manager reports to the Production Team Leader.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and execute daily production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
- Monitor and manage production KPIs (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) through daily GEMBA meetings and performance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards (9001, 16949, 14001, 45001) and maintain robust documentation practices.
- Lead hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management for production staff.
- Promote employee engagement and recognition programs to foster a positive work environment.
- Address employee relations issues in collaboration with HR and Legal as needed.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with Quality and R&D teams to troubleshoot issues and conduct process trials.
- Drive yield optimization and minimize scrap rates.
- Ensure adherence to EHS regulations and participate in audits and risk assessments.
- Promote a safety-first culture and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Work with HQ, R&D, procurement, and logistics to integrate new materials, technologies, and equipment.
- Manage ERP and production data systems to support operational transparency and efficiency.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
- Report on utility usage, facility improvements, and EHS performance.
- Demonstrate and set leadership example for Jeong-Do (Business Ethics) Management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching abilities.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of ISO standards, Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, and safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA, EPA).
- Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and team collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with SI units and production metrics.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Manufacturing Engineering, Polymer/Plastics Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years in plastics manufacturing (extrusion, injection molding, compounding, etc.).
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a manufacturing environment.
