What You Will Do
- Lead all tax-related activities, ensuring full compliance with Zakat, VAT, Corporate Tax, and related regulations.
- Assist with monthly closing and year‑end financial audit, providing accurate and timely tax information.
- Perform general ledger (GL) and financial statement analysis to ensure correctness and compliance.
- Manage long‑term overdue accounts and resolve tax‑related discrepancies.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, internal controls, and financial procedures.
- Prepare the year‑end tax provision and corporate tax returns (e.g., T2, T106, Zakat, Corporate Income Tax).
- Handle VAT preparation and filing (GST/QST/PST or local VAT returns, depending on jurisdiction).
- Support transfer pricing reviews and audits when applicable.
- Assist with government authorities’ audits, including Corporate Income Tax, GST/QST/PST, and VAT.
- Oversee custom duties management and ensure accurate reporting.
- Monitor and manage environmental handling fees and related compliance.
- Prepare tax analyses and respond to queries from business units across the company.
- Submit the reporting package to HQ (e.g., FX variance analysis, inventory & fixed assets reconciliation).
- Perform ad‑hoc reporting and tax-related projects as required.
- Conduct internal accounting controls assessments (CATS – Control Assessment Tracking System for external auditors).
- Approve vendor account setups from a tax compliance perspective.
You Must Have
- 10+ years of total tax experience, or minimum 4 years of hands‑on Zakat experience.
- Strong knowledge of Zakat, VAT, Corporate Income Tax, and other indirect taxes.
- Experience preparing and filing corporate tax returns and VAT submissions.
- Strong analytical skills in financial statements, GL review, and reconciliations.
- Experience in managing tax audits with government authorities.
- Hands-on experience with custom duties and tax compliance processes.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, risk management, and audit procedures.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
Nice If You Have
- Experience in transfer pricing documentation and audit support.
- Knowledge of environmental handling fees regulations.
- Experience working in multinational companies with HQ reporting requirements.
- Familiarity with CATS or other internal control assessment systems.
- Professional certifications such as SOCPA, CPA, CMA, ACCA, or a Tax‑related certification.
- Experience in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
