JOB SUMMARY (BASIC FUNCTIONS): We are seeking a Technical Sales Manager to join the EP Sales team based in Troy, M. This individual contributor role is responsible for driving growth in the North American market by developing new customers and expanding our Engineering Plastics business (PC, PBT, PA, mPPO, TPEE). The position will focus on building strong customer relationships, identifying new market opportunities, and supporting the commercialization of tailored material solutions. The role also requires collaboration with internal team to align on business strategy, while ensuring operational effectiveness across sales processes. This opportunity is ideal for a self-motivated professional who can operate independently, leverage technical and market insights, and contribute to long-term business growth.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include but are not limited to):

  • Develop new customers and expand market opportunities for Engineering Plastics (PC, PBT, PA, mPPO, TPEE) across North America to drive revenue growth
  • Proactively engage with customers through regular meetings and communication to understand requirements, propose solutions, and strengthen long-term relationships
  • Analyze market and industry trends to support effective pricing strategies and maximize sales performance and profitability
  • Oversee and coordinate shipment logistics within SAP to ensure timely and accurate product delivery
  • Monitor and follow up on accounts receivable to minimize aging balances and support timely collections
  • Conduct market research and provide regular insights and reporting on market conditions, customer activity, and competitive landscape
  • Collaborate with headquarters and cross-functional teams to support business expansion and continuous improvement initiatives

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES: WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for Chemical Engineering

 

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience in engineered plastics, plastics or chemical/technical products
  • Experience in the polymer business, particularly working with distributors and suppliers, is a plus
  • Experience in the North American automotive industry is a plus
  • Proven track record of success in B2B sales, ideally within petrochemical manufacturers, distributors, or trading companies focused on engineered plastics
  • Korean language skills are a plus to support communication with global stakeholders, including customers and headquarters
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with SAP (ERP systems) is a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, collaborate cross-functionally, and influence stakeholders
